Amanda Gladu is an artist working in graphite, watercolor, and oils, as well as a costume designer for theater, dance, opera, and film.
As a storyteller, Amanda's inclination towards the investigation of character has informed her practice of zooming in on a subject and exploring its personality. Her work is centered around this detailed inquiry and is inspired by her curiosity for how living things grow. Amanda's current series delves in to the colors, life cycles, and prickly parts of the flora of her native Texas.
Amanda holds an MFA in Stage Design from Northwestern University, and dual BA degrees in Theatre (Dance) and Art History from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently the Assistant Professor of Costume Design at Ithaca College, in New York.
